Ikea DIODER led lights

Web controlled lighting is a staple of many home automation projects. But hacking cheap hardware to make it do your bidding always give me a warm feeling in my heart ๐Ÿ™‚

Alex hacked the IKEA DIODER light so you can control the RGB settings for the LEDs from a website. Web-controlled mood lighting. It would be nice to just control the moodlight in your home from your smartphone wouldn't it?

I wonder if there is a cheaper way of doing this project.

Ingredients

  • 1x Ikea DIODER
  • 1x Nanode
  • 1x protoboard
  • 3x MOSFET (Stp36nf06l)
  • 3x 100 ohm resistor
  • 1x rgb sketch from Alex Mole, see here

Instructions

  1. Alex did not put up a detailed write up, but his post does show the circuit nicely in a decent resolution photo on his blog.
  2. This looks like a project I might replicate myself, so when I do i'll post the detailed instructions here.
